PROLOGUE: THE CASTLE LOST

We meet our hero, Lance, a 10 year-old boy with an extraordinary talent for building castles (architectural wonders in the sand). His parents are arguing. His father, Richard Castleman, is the leader of the Outerworld forces. His mother, Maya, is the sister of Richard's arch enemy, Senator Peter Klingsor, the mad dictator of Cityworld. (ONCE YOU BELIEVED) Lance discovers the power of the Grail, but loses his father.

(THE GRAIL) This is the wound that will haunt him all his life.

ACT 1: THE AWAKENING

20 years later. We are in Cityworld (CITY OF LIGHT) We meet Klingsor and learn that his fear of death has led him to an evil experiment in immortality...the "uploading" of 300 brainwashed citizens into Cyberspace. Lance hasn't made much of his life. He's repressed his painful childhood memories, but is haunted by nightmares of castles.(LANCE/MAYA & THE CASTLE IN MY MIND) He is his uncle's speechwriter (THE UPLOADING). We meet Kundree, Lance's fiancee, a bad girl addicted to power and Klingsor's secret lover (POWER IS ALL). But then Lance's life is turned upside down. First, he is powerless to stop his best friend, Jesse, from being "uploaded". Second, his mother disappears, her house ransacked, blood on the floor. Third, he meets Justine, a soldier woman from the Outerworld, who propels him into the decision that will change his life. (LANCE MEETS JUSTINE)

 

ACT 2: THE JOURNEY

Lance discovers the horror of Klingsor's rule (OUTERWORLD), and when his mother dies, he becomes committed to something for the first time in his life. (WHEN SHE'S GONE) He and Justine set out to find the castle and encounter a strange mentor. (THERE ISN'T ANY THERE THERE) Kundree shows up, having been sent by Klingsor. Justine and Kundree fight for Lance's soul (WHO ARE YOU GONNA BELIEVE?) and Lance discovers Kundree has been betraying him. He and Justine fall in love, but fight it all the way. (TOO SOON, TOO LATE) Finally, when it looks like all is lost, Lance takes the journey he's been avoiding all his life....a journey to the past where he discovers the true power of the Grail. (THE UNDERWORLD/WONDER TO THE DREAM) He finds the Grail Castle once again, saves his father, (FATHER FOUND) and together they vow to rebuild a just world. (GRAIL FINALE)
