From the US come "Grail" - The Rock Musical of The Future", music by Bob Christianson and text/ lyrics by Cappy Capossela. Fans of bombastic Pop and Rock Music will listen up as soon as they start hearing the first sounds on the 2 CD production. Spheric organ and huge synthesizer sounds paired with classical instruments tell the story of the myths of the legendary Grail. This science fiction story deals with the war between the people of Citiworld and Outerworld and the journey of the hero Lance in search of his past and his love to the enemy soldier Justine. Accompanying an interesting story, Grail presents an unbelievably engaging and idea-rich composition, which sometimes reminds us of productions like Starmania. In spite of 36 tracks and 150 minutes in length there are hardly "filler" pieces to be found. Therefore, Grail is wonderfully one of those musicals that one wants to listen to in its entirety. This is also supported by the excellent voices; among others Jason Paige (Lance), Spohia Ramos (Justine), Bill Nolte (Klingsor), Vaneece Thomas (Kundree) and Florence Warner (Maya Castleman). Extraordinarily well produced and interspersed with small dialogues (very believably performed), one can follow the story easily ( which is printed in the booklet). A promising new musical that already at first listening creates many visions that get stuck in your head!

This is an excellent musical. It is based on the Grail legend but set in the future. Anyone who loved Tommy or other rock operas or who loves the X-files and futuristic themes has to buy this!

 

 

 

 

Great Obscure Rock Musical

I bought this originally back in 1999 it first cam out as a collector of "rock" musicals. I have to say that this is one of my better investments. Although I can't imagine how the story would be portrayed on the stage(as it would seemingly reply on a lot of special effects), the music and voices are extremely powerful and worth the buy. Some great songs include "City of Light", "Power is All", but my favorite is "When She's Gone". I highly recommend this soundtrack.
